THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF GAP REGIONAL
DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION

The GAP RDA'S main task is to plan and carry out all works and activities relating to development of the Southeast Anatolia Region within a framework of a widescale regional planning approach to cover all social and economic sectors and in conformity with development objectives, targets and strategies.

In determination of the Region's development directions and dimensions with decision makers and the comprehensive planning o the region is designed to establish interrelations between all project components and to draw well-designed frame-works by evaluating sectoral investments in place an time dimensions. The GAP Master Plan is being used as the basic guide in this regard. Urban infrastructure in the region will be improved throughy the Project in order to increase their potential to absorb population.Further more, regional resources will be used to achieve a stable and sustainable economic growth and to increase exports. With the Estimated cost of 370 trillion at 1993 prices the project is the largest of its kind in the history of the Republic. 135 trillion TL has been spent under the scheme until 1993.
